The photo with the strange looking spiral is of the underground shopping complex. Montreal has over 20 different complexes all linked underground so you dont have to go out in the cold. It's like one big Westfield shopping centre. When it opens out into another complex it usually has between 4-6 floors of shops. Then you go through an underground walkway to the next one. So far I've been lost everytime I've gone in it because my map of it is still being shipped over. The other photo is of a carol singers sculpture & angels outside a building.
